ABOUT US

THE TEAM

I am not an ultra-marathoner. I am not a marathoner. I am an average runner who will spend 9 months training to run 25 miles a day for 6 day days, supported by my family and friends. I served in Afghanistan from 2011-2012 and consider myself very fortunate to be among those who returned unharmed to their families.

Navy Captain Nancy Lacore

While the primary purpose of this run is to raise awareness of the many women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, it is also a fundraiser for the Women's Memorial and Wounded Wear. My goal is to raise $10,000 for the memorial and $25,000 for Wounded Wear.

Indiana Univeristy Masters Student Tricia Oxford

Indiana University Masters Student, Tricia Oxford is joining Nancy on her 160 mile trek to honor the 160 fallen women in the War on Terrorism.  I have been an avid runner since a young age, but getting to utilize my passion for a cause such as Hoosier Hero has been the greatest experience of my life.  "I get through each hilly Bloomington mile thinking about the women who have sacrificed more than any sweat and tears I could on any trail and I keep them in my thoughts with every pounding foot step."  She is excited for the Btown community to become aware of those who fight for their freedom and asks that everyone put forth an effort to honor the women either physically and/or through donation.

I have always loved running and I am so happy to run for the cause. Since I am not able to take time off work or school, I must run in Bloomington.  I am recruiting as many people as possible to do some of my 160 kilometers with me. Please join in helping me raise awareness and money for those who make unmeasureable sacrifices for our country.

I come from a military family and background in Maryland.  With a passion for physical activity and sport marketing I’m excited to team up with this amazing group of people to give back to the women and families who have given so much for us.

THE CAUSE

Hoosier Hero honors those women, now 160, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Women in Military Service for America Memorial honors those women who made the ultimate sacrifice by keeping their stories alive. Wounded Wear supports combat wounded and Gold Star families who face a lifetime of coping with a tragic, though honorable loss - continuing on without wives, daughters, sisters, mothers.

While the primary purpose of this run is to raise awareness of the many women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, it is also a fundraiser for the Women's Memorial and Wounded Wear. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the memorial and $25,000 for Wounded Wear.
